UUFP Big Back Yard Project

The Big Backyard Committee is a subcommittee of the Building & Grounds. We're working to make our grounds more usable and encourage appreciation and stewardship of our environment in accordance with our principles. Our plans include a picnic area, a butterfly garden, a labyrinth, and a memorial garden.

The Backyard Committee always welcomes anyone who'd like to join us. We can use your ideas. We also welcome your donations of large stones for pathways and borders, picnic tables, benches or garden chairs, or old newspapers. We're thrilled if you'd be able to come to a work day now and then to help rake, plant, etc. And we could use help getting the rest of the brush bagged and put out at yard pickups. Contact Jane Bartik, Karen Lovequist, Judith Knauss, or Eleanor Harmantas for more information.

September Lunch: On the 3rd Sunday in September (9/21/2008), the Big Backyard Committee will co-host our 3rd Sunday Luncheon with the Membership Committee. We'll eat outside following the Sunday service, and will have a temporary painting of the labyrinth path we're planning so that we can all experience a little bit of labyrinth walking and understand how this labyrinth pattern will feel, and how it fits into the space. We hope that many people will come out to enjoy our lovely natural surroundings, see what we're planning and give their input, and share food and conversation.

We've got a slide show of some pictures from work days and picnics.
