Hospitality is one of the Fellowship's specialities!
Following the Sunday service is the Fellowship hospitality hour. The Fellowship proudly serves only Fair Trade Coffee. Fair Trade tea is also available, and there is usually an assortment of fruit, cookies, cheese and crackers, bagels and other baked goods.
The coffee hour is hosted by different volunteers from the congregation each week. The hosts bring food items, getting to Fellowship a little early in order to start setting up and get the coffee brewing so everything's ready by the time service ends. The hosts also clean up afterwards.
Volunteering to help with coffee hour is a great way to get to know people! We make every effort to pair new volunteers with "old hands" so it all runs smoothly, and there are always folks around who like to help out. The sign up sheet is in the main kitchen.
On most Sundays, there is an opportunity for congregants to buy Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate and other Fair Trade food items.
On the third Sunday of every month, the Fellowship hosts the Third Sunday Luncheon. A different committee sponsors this Luncheon each month, and the menu varies depending on the sponsoring committee. A donation of $5 per person with a family cap of $15 is requested to cover the costs of the meal,
which provides an opportunity for even more socializing than the regular coffee hour. Great friendships can be forged over food!
While the Fellowship enjoys hosting members and visitors right here, it has long felt an obligation to reach out to provide a home-cooked meal each month for residents at a local homeless shelter. Every fourth Friday, the meal is cooked at the Fellowship by volunteers. Then they deliver it and stay to serve the shelter residents.
