Peace Plaza

The Fellowship is committed to peace. Indeed, the sixth principle of Unitarian Universalism is "The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all."

For many years, the Fellowship had a peace pole surrounded by a small garden. The pole was not properly installed, and the base became rotted and the pole fell over. It was temporarily removed.

In the meantime, one of our youth, Chad Halson, was busy working toward achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, which included developing and executing a Eagle Scout Service Project, demonstrating leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of any religious institution, school, or the community. Chad chose the Fellowship to benefit from his project.

After some brainstorming, Chad decided to design and build a plaza which would become the new home to our Peace Pole. At the Memorial Day Service on May 29, we inaugurated a new tradition. we began building a cairn of stones inscribed with the names of fallen soldiers at the base of the Peace Pole in our beautiful Peace Plaza.

We hope you will take a moment the next time you come to Fellowship to walk the path to the Peace Pole. If you have a name to add, let us know. We would be honored to provide you with the materials you need to honor their memory.
